Well done Sapphire Class for super learning this week!

Highlights
Thank you to Revd. Sarah from St. Edmund’s Church who came to lead our Harvest Celebration.
Sapphire Class joined with Topaz Class in reflecting upon the beauty of creation. They showed their Harvest Crowns and joined in with singing ‘All things bright and beautiful’. Mr. Hulme and Reverend Sarah were very impressed with just how well Sapphire Class joined in for this, their first special celebration of a feast or season.
Autumn has continued to inspire learning in Sapphire Class. The children made up their own Autumn songs, painted the insides of conker shells, used conkers for counting and size comparison activities and found different ways of describing the sounds and sights of Autumn. The children loved looking at the leaf blower and talking about how it works!
The children watched a super programme about Autumn which you might like to watch with your child at home. You can cut and paste this link into your browser.

The Big Question
In R.E. each class in the school focusses on Big Question each half term.
This term in Sapphire Class we are asking The Big Question, ‘What makes me special?’
Next week we will be learning a song called ‘I am special’.
At home you could talk with your child about why they are so special. Your child could talk about why you are special.
You might like to draw around each of your hands and write one thing that makes your child/you special on each finger/thumb.
If you would like to, your child could bring this to school on Monday so that you child can show staff and other children.

Snacktime
Thank you for your donations for snack and thank you to Evie’s mum for coordinating this. The children are really enjoying sharing snack with their friends.
Please could your child choose a mug from home, or perhaps choose a mug (not plastic) if you are going shopping and bring this to school on Monday.
We would be grateful for donations of any jugs, side plates, some small bowls (please no plastic) and metal cutlery for our snack time that you might no longer need. We would also be grateful for any tablecloths/tea and hand towels that you might have to spare. Please bring to school on Monday.
Lunchtime
The children continue to enjoy their lunch at school. We are so impressed with their manners and attitudes towards staff and other children. The children demonstrate our school Christian Value of respect by waiting patiently whilst all children are seated and joining in with our prayer before meals.

Looking ahead:
Sapphire Trip to Trosley Park – Thursday 8th October
Sapphire Class are very much looking forward to their first school trip next Thursday. Please see the letter that was sent last week for all the details.
We will be sending home any wellies and wetsuits that we have in school on Wednesday for you to use at Trosley on Thursday. All children must bring a packed lunch in a named disposable bag and if they bring water bottles these too must be disposable. As always please make sure that all your child’s clothing is clearly marked with their name.
You might like to complete some woodland themed activities at home with your child. The Woodland Trust website has lots of ideas. You can cut and paste this link into your browser.

Here’s just one idea from the website.
Some animals are hard to spot when you’re out exploring, but you can make your own forest friends using fallen leaves. Look for leaves shaped like a hedgehog’s snout, an owl’s feather, a squirrel’s bushy tail or a fox’s face, then build up a picture. Use acorns and conkers for eyes and noses.
Here are some pictures ideas to help you.
If you would like, you can bring a photograph to school showing your creation.
